(what my wedding “to-do” list is looking like right about now….)

We did it. We officially booked our limousine company. I felt like a major procrastinator in not booking the limos yet, but one day, I researched, emailed and the next, we chose. It’s crazy, because I felt like I still had something big left to do, and now, it’s all the little things from here! (a lot of little things, though! I just need to make a new “to-do” list!)

It’s so hard to look at a calendar and see what used to be 14 months away, now almost 5 months away! 5 months! It’s absolutely nuts! Not that I cannot WAIT to marry Mr. Ballet Flat, but pretty soon, all this planning will be over. All my obsessing with the DIY details, making the large to-do lists, budgeting, will be over. I’ll walk away a Mrs. in 5 very short months, and it’s just amazing to me that this is all about to take place!

Since we are marrying in the Catholic church, next month, we are going on an engaged couples retreat. I’m a little nervous about that, because I have NO idea what we are in for. We didn’t do very well on the FOCCUS test at all, and I’m afraid the retreat will be just the same.

Then, later the next month, invitations are going out! Eep!! It’s so crazy!

Have any of you brides reached a realization with your wedding countdown? Do you feel like you will have it all sorted out by the big day?

A driving dilemma…

October 22, 2008

I’ve been a good bride. I booked everything within a month of being engaged. Well, almost everything.

I still haven’t booked the limo(s). I know, I know…tomorrow is exactly 7 months until the big day, and I haven’t booked or looked much into the transportation yet.

Mr. Ballet Flat and I are on a budget, and we don’t exactly know how many limos to rent and what kinds of limos to rent, how long to rent them. We have SO many questions, and we don’t want to waste money. On top of that, I’ve read bad reviews on almost EVERY limo company in New Orleans on the local Knot boards.

I feel like the days keep passing by and this little problem won’t get solved. However, I know it won’t until we do something. Man, oh man!

What are you ladies doing/have done for transportation? If you are from NOLA, did you have good service from a certain company as well?

Florist BOOKED!

June 5, 2008

I officially booked my florist, and her name is Christina O’Malley. She came highly recommended on the Knot for having beautiful flower arrangements at affordable, budget friendly prices! She works out of her studio in her home, so there is no overhead cost or anything like that. When I received her quote, she came in at $750 total for EVERYTHING! I had to book her….I just had to!

So here are the checkmarks…

Ceremony (check….$250)
Reception (check…$4800)
Photographer (check….$1500)
Florist (check…$750)

Oooo lawdee lawd! This is getting expensive! (but I’m in budget still)

Total spent so far: $7300/$10,000

Next up: Limo booking but I have a question for those who read this…

What do you think if I just rented a limo for the bride and the groom? My mom flipped out, but seriously to stay in budget, if I got a limo for bride and groom, party and parents/grandparents, it would be almost $1000. One limo would be about $300…but I’m also toying with the idea of a Vintage Rolls Royce for just us(same price and just cooler looking)…please comment!!
